Northwest University, Kano State, has expelled 34 students for their involvement in examination malpractice. The decision was approved by the university's Senate during its 66th statutory meeting held on June 17 and 18, 2026, following recommendations from the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct arising from the Second Semester 2024/2025 examinations.
According to a statement issued by the university's Public Relations Unit on behalf of the Registrar, Dr. Isyaku Adamu, the disciplinary action was taken in line with the institution's examination regulations as outlined in the Students' Handbook.
The Senate also approved the rustication of 18 students and issued warning letters to 22 others for various examination-related offences.
Meanwhile, one student, Rukayya Ahmad Zukuri, was cleared of wrongdoing after a review of her case.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and urged students to strictly comply with examination rules and regulations.
